Standard Jamaican English is the language used the formal
context. Patois is used informally. It is a mixture of
English, Spanish and African dialect.
Jamaica, the third largest island of the Greater Antilles
was ruled first by Spain and then by Britain. Under british
rule it became independant on 6th of August 1962. |
